 Black History Month with the Black Scranton Project 3rd Annual Pan-African Flag Raising Ceremony. Scranton honors the start of Black History Month by raising the Pan-African Flag at City Hall with Black Scranton project ,NAACP Wilkes-Barre Branch #2306 , NAACP Organizing Charter Committee Lackawanna County, and Geisinger’s Black Outreach Leadership Development (BOLD) Employee Research Group, and Health Network & Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.

NEPA Gives—a one-day online giving extravaganza that's all about giving back to the community. Scranton Area Community Foundation, The Luzerne Foundation, Greater Pike Community Foundation, Wayne County Community Foundation, and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center (NCAC) have teamed up to host NEPA Gives. 

Scranton StorySlam is a celebration of diverse voices, welcoming all to share their stories of triumph, disappointment, humor, and heartbreak with our supportive audiences. The joy of a StorySlam  is that any kind of story can be spun within the theme.

The Lackawanna Historical Society is presents an introductory one-act Lackawanna County premiere of the play “For the Least of Them.” The performance was presented to a limited live audience at the Society’s headquarters, the Catlin House, and Broadcast live on ECTV.


The City of Scranton exits Act 47, a City in financial distress, after 30 years. Ceremony recorded live at Lackawanna College Theater, with Scranton Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti, Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin, Deputy Secretary Community Affairs and Development Rick Vilello Jr., Scranton City Councilman Kyle Donahue, and Gerald Cross, senior research fellow and former executive director of the Pennsylvania Economy League
